Ok I am NOT impressed at all…

4 months ago I bought a brand spanking new Yukon XLT 2004.. The dealer who we knew.. failed to tell me about a little black box that tracks everything the car does…

GM and Little Black Boxes

Evidence From Black Boxes in Cars Turns Up in Courts

Parents of teenagers have also begun to use black boxes marketed by Road Safety International (search) in Thousand Oaks, Calif. This item, which can be placed under the hood, is able to track the driver’s use of a seatbelt, excessive speed, hard cornering, braking and even unsafe backing, and can store hours of information for review later.
Now I don’t have a problem with this.. because very simply.. It’s my car, if my child borrows it they have no right to privacy… not to mention I would tell the child about it.. since better to warn them to drive safe or I will know all, rather than being able to pull the box out after they have crashed the car and go “AH HA”

Yes in the case of the idiot doing 100mph etc it works out.. but if the box can not detect the outside environment then how can it show why you speeded up , swerved, slowed down etc etc etc.. It does not take into effect anything to do with the impacting environment that could have caused your actions.. I am not even going to touch the whole question of GPS tracking etc..

Having read these articles I am thinking about looking around for a module and replacing the one in the vehicle!
