Does anyone actually ever fall for the crap said in the debates? Prepared questions, vetted and then approved.. does this not seem a little contrived?

I know people are popping a blood vessel waiting for their candidate to get onto the debate floor and give their little prepared speeches but somehow I just feel like it is a dog and pony show. I do realize that some of the questions need to be vetted simply because not everyone has all the details at their fingertips.. but still..

I would like to see a no-holds barred grilling of both candidates for at least 3 hours where they could NOT just answer the questions with some completely meaningless dribble but are required to answer the damn question that was posed.

I am so tired of hearing kerry babble his crap about i have a plan, I said this, I said that, (Bush did not listen to me).. SPIT OUT YOUR PLAN ASSHOLE!

I mean if you have a plan then god damn well spit out this magical plan.. and if it involves getting on your hands and knees in front of chirac.. then kiss the candidacy good bye! Oh and one more thing .. please please put some damn duct tape over theresa’s mouth and if you can spare a few more strips.. her face too.

Ok I feel better now :)

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve witnessed a Presidential debate since the eighth grade when I got to debate Mondale’s POV in our school’s mock election. Fun. Can’t imagine it’s changed much in twenty years.

I think you’ve hit upon something and I really hope they do somethign with it at the debate: Make John Kerry annunciate and defend his mystical (metaphysical?) plan.

I’m not optimistic that this will happen, but a guy can dream.

A little contrived? That’s being really kind - I expect zip, nada, zilch, out of either of them. As a matter of fact I may well be found at Patty’s Pub on Thursday night listening to Charles de Lint and tipping a few with treehugger, balbulican, and a couple of other souls who appreciate good music and cold beer.

Somebody will have the text posted somewhere……….

Hi Chris! Got here via Lisa & I love your site. I have a feeling we won’t see/hear any detailed plan for the kerry camp though perhaps stageleft could come up with a drinking game at his pub. Take a shot for every time kerry points…or mentions the Vietnam War…
