For $3,500, you can own the world’s first hypoallergenic kitten. Yes folks, the kitten is due off the “assembly line” in 2007 and promises to solve the dilemma of cat lovers suffering from a cat allergy

It’s the product of animal genetic engineering, which will “silence” the gene that produces the Fel d 1 protein

Ok.. I am a cat lover but I wonder if this is going to far?

If all cats produce this protein.. then perhaps there is a reason the cats need this that our scientists have no clue about. Yes we all know I am not religious and I am not even sure I have any moral objections to this form of genetic engineering but.. what scares me in genetics is that we are like a bunch of children playing with the components of a nuclear bomb.. you may get it put together but do you understand the ramifications of your actions?

I will however be the first in line to order a genetic child ;)
