A brand new way of showing “A Christmas Carol”. This was a very funny comedy film that had a few twists to the old story. It blends technology with the concept of the Ghosts Of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Answers a few questions about how those ghosts think and their purposes in life.

Great fun for all.

Over the last century, thousands of people have gone missing. Suddenly and inexplicably, 4400 missing people are returned all at once, as they were on the day they vanished. Each has been gone anywhere from a few months to several decades but hasn’t aged a day. These are the stories of 4400 abductees after they are returned to Earth. People dealing with traumatic changes, driven by the mystery of what happened and why. Some of them have been affected in mysterious ways, and some will have certain abilities, both good and bad. Unclear what this world-altering even means, the government investigates the 4400 to piece together where they’ve been and why they’ve been returned. It quickly becomes apparent that their presence will change the human race in ways no one could have ever foreseen.

This is a very mind grabbing season! It has gotten mixed reviews probably because the returnees don’t effect HUGE changes BUT there is a far more subtle issue of the butterfly effect happening and you need to keep an eye on what the future potential of the small changes on a day to day basis are.

Season One is a mini series. Only about 6 episodes but it is growing. Season two is available on DVD now. Season four is supposedly underway.

This has to be one of the COOLEST films to come out in 2006.

Directed by James McTeigue (first assistant director on The Matrix films) from a screenplay by the Wachowski brothers. Natalie Portman stars as Evey Hammond and Hugo Weaving as V together with Stephen Rea, John Hurt, and Stephen Fry.

It is a phenomenal film and has many ties to some folks present views of the current administration but is based on a comic book in the UK from the 80’s. Much of the “political leanings” of the film were supposedly based on the political climate generated by Margaret Thatcher in the uk.

An Introduction of himself by V.

“Voilà ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.â€

Some of the best quotes both for an action film and for political conciousness.

V : No, what you have are bullets, and the hope that when your guns are empty, I’m no longer standing, because if I am… you’ll all be dead before you’ve reloaded.

Creedy: Die! Die! Why won’t you die?… Why won’t you die?

V: Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

Evey Hammond: We are told to remember the idea, not the man. Because a man can fail. He can becaught, he can be killed and forgotten. But four hundred years later an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of ideas. I’ve seen people kill in the name of them; and die defending them. But you cannot touch an idea, cannot hold it or kiss it. An idea does not bleed, it cannot feel pain, and it does not love. And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man. A man who made me remember the fifth of November. A man I will never forget.

V: A building is a symbol, as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people. A symbol, in and of itself is powerless, but with enough people behind it, blowing up a building can change the world.

Worth Buying, Renting!!!!
