New Pakistani rape laws anger Islamists

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistan’s lower house of Parliament passed amendments to the country’s rape laws Wednesday, ditching the death penalty for extramarital sex and revising a clause on making victims produce four witnesses to prove rape cases.
Consensual sex outside marriage remains a crime punishable by five years in prison or a $165 fine, said a parliamentary official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
International and local calls for change intensified after the 2002 gang-rape of a woman, Mukhtar Mai, who was assaulted after a tribal council in her eastern Punjab village ordered the rape as punishment for her 13-year-old brother’s alleged affair with a woman of a higher caste.
Ahhh the religion of peace.. maybe we should ask them what they actually mean by peace? Disgusting animals rings a bell for me.
President Gen. Pervez Musharraf praised lawmakers for passage and urged the government-controlled Senate to approve the amendments within days. He also criticized Islamic fundamentalists for their “unnecessary” opposition and claims that his government was acting against Islam. “I have taken a firm decision to change these unjust rape laws as it was necessary to amend them to protect women,” Musharraf said in a televised address to the nation.

Islam The Religion Of Love and Peace? Bullshit.. Sounds more like the Religion of Organized Legal Rape.

“We reject it,” Maulana Fazlur Rahman, a top Islamist opposition leader, told reporters after the vote, which he described as a “dark day” in Pakistan’s parliamentary history. Rahman and other Islamists vowed to devise a strategy to block Senate passage of the bill. Islamic political groups have previously staged mass rallies to denounce moves by the military-led government deemed contrary to Islam.

They won’t rally against murder but they will rally against a change in the law that actually makes the woman a victim of rape as opposed to the instigator. Amazing..

Two Thumbs Up for President Gen. Pervez Musharraf although it would have been nice to see rape completely outlawed.

What is this.. tacky shit day?

Publisher calls book O.J.’s ‘confession’

NEW YORK - O.J. Simpson created an uproar Wednesday with plans for a TV interview and book titled “If I Did It” — an account the publisher pronounced “his confession” and media executives condemned as revolting and exploitive.

Revolting and exploitive? Those are the best adjectives they can come up with? This is downright fucking disgusting.. How about I write a book with the title “O.J. : Cornholed In Prison If He Had Done It” or “If I Did It : O.J. Top Ten Prison Secrets On How to Deep Throat – A Personal Introspective”

The man has no fucking shame. He might as well title it “Fuck You Everyone”. The TV Network and Publisher for this absolute steaming pile of regurgitated prison puke should be boycotted at the earliest convienience. Some times even businesses need to figure out whats in good taste and whats not..

Publisher of this crap : Judith Regan of ReganBooks
Morons who are carrying this : Amazon.com, FOX

“This is not a project appropriate for our network,” said Rebecca Marks, a spokeswoman for the entertainment division of NBC, a network that once employed Simpson as a football analyst.

Well Done NBC!!

Dozens of Pakistani immigrants arrested

WASHINGTON - Dozens of Pakistani immigrants who came to the United States posing as religious workers were arrested Wednesday, authorities said, as Homeland Security agents tried to close a commonly exploited avenue for illegal immigration.

Anyone else thinking about damn time?

Immigrants who were supposed to be teaching or conducting religious ceremonies were arrested across the East Coast, where authorities said many worked as gas station attendants, taxi drivers, landscapers and factory workers.
Hard workers they may be.. but this loophole definately needs to be closed!!
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have been scrutinizing the religious worker visa program, which a 2005 review found was rife with problems. Homeland Security officials found fraud in one of every three religious visas they reviewed.

33%.. nuff said.

In the report released last year, officials found cases where workers could not be found and addresses could not be verified. In one incident, the address on the visa application was found to have been used by a terrorist suspect, though Boyd said there was no indication of a terrorist threat in Wednesday’s case.

Warning anyone?? Hellooooo… Anyone listening to this from either side of the aisle??

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Children in deep sleep awoke to recordings of their mothers’ voices — calling them by name and ordering them out of their bedrooms — even if they slept through the beeping sound a smoke alarm makes, according to a small study.

I love it! I am going to have to run out and record my moms voice and turn it into an alarm clock. Maybe that will solve my problem with waking up to alarm clocks!

Not the worlds best acting or the worst but the reality of how fast something like this can spread is what makes this film worth watching. Scary scary things.
